Channel 4 and Sony Pictures Television are partnering on a new original drama series based on the short stories written by Philip K. Dick. The ten-part anthology series, Electric Dreams: The World of Philip K. Dick, will be written and executive produced by Ronald D. Moore (Battlestar Galactica, Outlander) and Michael Dinner (Justified, Masters of Sex), with Bryan Cranston (Trumbo, Breaking Bad) both executive producing and appearing in the series.

Each episode will be a standalone drama adapted for global audiences by a team of British and American writers. The series will both illustrate Philip K. Dick’s prophetic vision and celebrate the enduring appeal of the prized Sci-Fi novelist’s work.

Bryan Cranston told SFcrowsnest.org.uk; “This is an electric dream come true. We are so thrilled to be able to explore and expand upon the evergreen themes found in the incredible work of this literary master.”

Channel 4 Chief Creative Officer Jay Hunt (no relation to best-selling science fiction author Stephen Hunt as far as we know) said, “Philip K. Dick’s short stories have shaped iconic Hollywood films from Blade Runner to Minority Report. Electric Dreams: The World of Philip K Dick will adapt and modernise his singular vision for a TV audience. We are thrilled to be partnering with the talented team at Sony Pictures Television on an anthology series that brings together global stars of the calibre of Bryan Cranston and Ronald D. Moore.”

“As a long-time fan of Philip K. Dick’s work, it’s a tremendous honour and thrill to be part of this series,” added Ronald D. Moore. “His short stories are a treasure-trove of material for artists to draw from and I think this will be a very exciting project.”

Also executive producing are James Degus (Sneaky Pete, SuperMansion), Isa Dick Hackett (The Adjustment Bureau, The Man in The High Castle), Kalen Egan (The Man in The High Castle), Christopher Tricarico (The Man in The High Castle), Maril Davis (Battlestar Galactica, Outlander), as well as David Kanter (The Revenant, The End of the Tour) and Matt DeRoss (upcoming Cinemax series Quarry, The End of the Tour).

Thanks or the info, Colonel. Phil had great ideas and did many fantastic short stories. It’s a real shame he died before the money came pouring in. And I’m glad It’s Channel 4 as we country folk without satellites and decent internet connections can see it too.
