Dane DeHaan is to sign up for the next Amazing Spider-Man movie alongside fellow acting talent Andrew Garfield, Jamie Foxx, Shailene Woodley and Emma Stone, we’re told. The new film in the Spider-Man saga is set for release in May 2nd 2014. Shooting begins in 2013.
The casting of DeHaan as Harry Osborn went viralthis morning following a tweet by Webb (@MarcW) who wrote “Meet Harry Osborn. So excited to have him on board. @danedehaan.”
Webb told SFcowsnest, “Dane is an exciting and extraordinary young actor and he is a fantastic addition to our cast.”
Webb, Garfield and Stone previously teamed on this summer’s The Amazing Spider-Man, which has taken in $751 million of the folding green ones.
DeHaan first came to industry attention after his portrayal of Jesse in season 3 of the drama series In Treatment, starring alongside Gabriel Byrne. This was followed by a guest spot in season 4 of horror series True Blood. DeHaan appeared in Steven Spielberg’s Lincoln, opposite Daniel Day-Lewis and Lukas Haas; John Hillcoat’s Lawless, alongside Shia LaBeouf, Tom Hardy, and Jason Clarke; and the adventure thriller Chronicle, directed by Josh Trank. Where, of course, he played a mutant super-baddie gone… well, bad.
The screenplay for Amazing Spider-Man II was knocked out by Alex Kurtzman & Roberto Orci and Jeff Pinkner, based on a previous draft by James Vanderbilt. The film will be directed by Marc Webb and produced by Avi Arad and Matt Tolmach.
